  • Volunteers help with a variety of mental health awareness events and information booths throughout the year. We also depend on volunteer support for activities that we offer on a monthly basis for the public and our Compeer community. Help out at an art activity, movie & game night, and more!

  • Operation Santa. Volunteers choose specific gift request to shop for during the holiday season. These gifts are distributed to adults living with a persistent mental illness, many of which are hospitalized or in crisis centers. We also welcome volunteers to support our one-time packing event each December to pack additional gifts that have been purchased with donations. For more about Operation Santa, click here.

Community Support Friendship (CSF) Project. Volunteers provide handmade gifts or activity kits that are incorporated into monthly friendship bags for our adult & senior Compeer participants. Gifts come along with a story of connection. Individuals can make one-time contributions or groups can commit to sponsor all the bags in a given month. We also welcome individuals to support MHA staff in packing CSF bags each month. To learn more about CSF, click here.

  • Volunteer Advisory Committee. Our VAC meets monthly to provide organizational updates and receive feedback from volunteers. Volunteer-led working groups develop based on current projects happening within MHA.

Speakers Bureau. For those passionate about mental health, we invite you to help us spread the word throughout the community. After shadowing an existing Speaker Bureau member you will be invited to present to a variety of civic groups, churches, etc.

  • Our Compeer program is an evidenced-based model based on the impact that a supportive friend can have on the life of an individual striving for mental wellness. Volunteers provide direct support to individuals who have been referred by their mental health provider due to their need for social connection. Compeer's community based model compliments clinical intervention.

Compeer One-to-One. Volunteers are matched in a compatible one-to-one friendship with a youth, adult, or senior. Friends spend 4 hours/month enjoying time together in the community.

Compeer Phone Friends. For those who cannot commit to in person meetings, Phone Friends is a great alternative. Volunteers make weekly calls to participants who are waiting on a one-to-one match or prefer telephone communication.

Compeer Youth Group Mentor. Volunteers are matched with 3 - 5 youth mentees in a site based setting with MHA staff support. Groups are based on themes such as art, sports, reading, music or anything else the volunteer and youth are passionate about. Youth are invited to participate in group mentoring while waiting on a one-to-one match.

CSF Deliver Driver. Volunteers deliver monthly friendship bags to our adult & senior Compeer participants. Drivers call ahead and sometimes interact with participants at the time of delivery.

  • Healing with Nature began in 2017 with an inaugural Earth Day speaker series. Since then our programming has expanded to include community walks & community gardens. To learn about these programs, click here.
