Community Events
MHACC hosts events each month to connect with community and provide opportunities to support your mental health through art, reading, physical activities, and community. Here are the reoccurring events we currently offer.
Bring Your Own Book Club
This book club, in collaboration with the Cleveland County Library, encourages members to read whatever book they want each month! Club discussions cover a diverse range of genres and topics, all while in a space that is accepting of mental health.
We meet on the third Wednesday of each month at Got Books (814 Washington St.) in Shelby, NC.
Book club runs from 4:00 - 5:30 pm and is “drop-in” style, meaning you are welcome to arrive when you can and leave when you need to.
Free Community Art Activity
On the first Tuesday of each month, you can find us at the Eugenia H. Young Memorial Library in Shelby, NC. We meet in the Makerspace to work on art and crafts using simple materials.
The art activity runs from 4:30 - 6:30 PM and is “drop-in” style, meaning you are welcome to come and go as you need. Art activities are led by MHA and library staff, who will walk you through the activity when you arrive.
To see what art project we’re working on next, keep an eye our for updates on our calendar, Facebook,or Instagram.
